VACANCY

September 1, 2017
by Blind7photo
“VACANCY” From the Medieval Latin word vacantia, dating back to 1570-80 Meaning the state of being Empty or without filling.   Personal work is beyond important for artists, Most of our week is spent on commercial projects, whether its editing, shooting, keeping up with training or social media accounts a working artist never really shuts down clocks out and goes home. Even when we finally do put the camera, computer, or keyboard down and try to relax our mind is still fixated on creating the next image. This is where the importance of personal work comes into play. Its allows us to not worry about impressing the client or remaining super professional we can be free to express ourselves, try new styles, learn and play all at the same time. I try to fit in as many personal projects as I can its kinda like therapy to me (and anyone who knows me knows I need a bunch of that).   Last year I was invited to a art show “THE NEW NOW” and despite a ton of self loathing behavior I managed to create “The HIDDEN ONES” which went on to become a award winning series, This year I was invited back However with life and a July filled with travel […]

SIN IN THE SUN 3

May 28, 2017
by Blind7photo
Each year, We here at Blind 7 try to do something we have never done before, or something we find challenging. 3 years ago I set out to do a Bathing suit shoot on a Hot summer day. Yeah those of you that know me, know I HATE heat and the sun. I’m perfectly content with the 50’s and cloudy. Now to most professional photographers shooting beautiful woman in bikinis on the beach is child’s play, however for me it falls just one step below Pin-up on the difficulty scale. (pin-up being a 10/10 lol) But I never like to shy away from a challenge, so I set out with a few models one day and went to Mentor Headlands state park in Mentor OH. It is about as beachy as you can get in Ohio. The lake is large enough to make it look Oceanic in photos (sometimes). After baking in the sun and a few wardrobe mishaps we fled to the nearest BP for slushies. Over the next few days I pealed off my sun burn and got down to editing, here is a selection from 3 years ago my first attempt at this series. Last year right around […]

WESTWICK

April 5, 2017
by Blind7photo
flesh–pulling is when a number of hooks are inserted into the skin and connected via (for example) ropes or chains into someone else’s skin   “WESTWICK” is a photo series originally conceptualized by Juliet Blind who is not only our killer SFXMUA and a stunning model she is also an accomplished piercer, and with our combined creativity formed this stunning idea for this shoot, Coupling awesome outfits with a 3 way flesh pull. Juliet helped me hand pick the accompaniment of models the beautiful miss Elena in lace along with the stunning Alesha Starr and by combining our thoughts we put together the outfits and over all look rather quickly We decided to give this a Witch feel in honor of the 3×3 rule and ritualistic representations of the flesh pulls The Morning of the shoot everyone gathered at the studio to begin make up, with gear packed and ready to roll Marlon and Michel loaded the car while Chelsea helped with making sure I stayed organized. once Make up was done I began the Hooking process each and every hook went perfectly. We then headed over to the location a abandoned factory we frequently shoot at knowing we wont be messed with as […]

The Fault is my own

March 20, 2017

Once a year right around this time Myself and a group of traveling artists from Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvanian, Gather in Ohio to just have a day of art. The group consists of Photographers, Models, designers and HMUAs and a few select Ohio talents join in the fun as well. Almost all of us met at another event held here in Ohio but for personal and professional reasons we no longer attend so we decided since the rest of the traveling crew still goes we would host a day before event so that I could still see everyone and be part of the art. 4 years in a row now we have done this and created some of my favorite pieces and while the group changes a little each year there are always a few familiar faces. So this year the awesome Kellie James (model extraordinaire) found us a huge warehouse to set up with this year and we had plenty of places to play in this 80+ thousand sq foot building, from offices to destroyed factory equipment and plenty of open space. we arrived around 9am to the factory took our time setting up waiting on the rest to […]

Sad Clown

March 6, 2017
by Blind7photo
Inherently Clowns are supposed to make you feel happy and carefree when wearing a clown suit you should feel joy and happiness however this series titled “Sad Clown” was meant to distort those preconceived feelings and take you to another time and place with feelings on the opposite end of the spectrum. I have been working towards more tangible art things you can hang in your home and were everyone loves a good 70 inch canvas print sometimes a smaller collection of photos is more fitting, so I set out to create a collective series of portraits with a turn of the century Victorian feel modeled after 1890-1910 family portraits. Now you can own the whole series! 16 4×6 Portrait prints on Metallic infused fine art paper + 1 bonus behind the scenes print wrapped in a custom dust cover. $49.99 $39.99* + shipping and applicable sales tax *sale 3.62017-3.29.2017

BRUMAL

February 18, 2017
by Blind7photo
What came first the chicken or the egg?   This question best describes my feelings towards art and life, what influences what? There is the old adage Art imitates life, but I believe life imitates art just as much. A few months ago I was sitting with the musicians from the band 17DED talking about their up and coming studio release and the Visuals needed, both photo and video. This conversation took an adjacent turn and we found ourselves talking about personal growth as artists. I’ve tried my hand at many art forms, including music. This sparked a musical impulse in myself, and I happened to have a acoustic guitar sitting around the studio. I decided to play them one of the songs I wrote when I was about 16 years old (somewhere around there anyways). It got their wheels turning, and within just a few short days they had taken that riff and turned it into one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard. I instantly knew what kind of treatment would fit perfect for this music video.  I began brainstorming while listening to the song on repeat for days. This lead to me concepting a lot of […]

The Hidden Ones

June 27, 2016
by Blind7photo
What started off as a project aimed for a art gallery piece soon grew to something so much more. It became a way to dive deep into my mind. I stand true to my mission statement that Blind 7 is based on the 7 core emotions and this series although incomplete for the moment makes me feel all of them, I would like to write a lengthy blog post about this series however I feel that this series is up to you to interpret I know how they make me feel now step into the world of “The Hidden ones” and tell me how they make you feel. :Meet the hidden ones:                                     All of the above images were shot using only natural light and we want to thank Eric the owner of the stunning House of Wills funeral home located in Cleveland for letting us use this amazing property, It has such a rich history so thick with turmoil and pain you can feel the heaviness as you walk these once well lit well taken care of halls. I would also like […]
